Hi, my name is Nanda, and that red beauty was Ember. She has always been a very active dragon, very spicy, and loved her food. Last month she stopped eating, so we took her to the Exotic Vets (an hour away) to get her checked. We were given food to syringe-feed her and lactulose. Within two weeks, Ember declined very quickly. She was barely moving and barely opening her eyes. I called the vets and took her for an emergency appointment. Ember had a blood test and an x-ray, she was also given some fluids. I had the hard conversation with her vet and, basically, Ember’s liver was failing and her numbers were through the roof. We had a decision to make. I brought her home that night so the kids could see her one more time. The following morning, I drove there again. The picture I have with her was in the car that morning. It was our goodbye. I had her on my chest the whole time until the vet confirmed she was gone. Then I had to decide on cremation and what kind. Too much information that I could barely process. We got her ashes back now, and although I know she is our responsibility, if anyone would like to contribute towards her vet bills, please feel free.
