STEAM Post 26 FTC Robotics

Donation protected
STEAM Post 26 is a BSA Explorer post that focuses on exposing kids to the fields of science and engineering. We meet at Tulsa University every week. The post has two FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics teams (Team 10355 and 11572) that will be competing in 2016. As a part of the season, the teams are responsible for raising funds to pay for the equipment required to build their robots and compete in competitions.

The total amount of money required to fully fund both teams for 2016 is just over $9,000. With this GoFundMe account, they hope to raise $6,000. Please consider making a contribution. Your funds will help pay for the following items:
- FIRST registration and competition registration fees
- Equipment to purchase robot components (i.e. motors, sensors, controllers, structural components, etc.)
- Travel expenses to compete in qualifiers and hopefully the OK state championship
- Outreach events and service projects
- other miscellaneous expenses

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics was started by Dean Kamen, who is most famous for the invention of the Segway. His goal was to offer kids an opportunity to compete in a highly energized competition that challenged the mind and the creative spirit to excel. Through FIRST, kids learn teamwork, leadership, Gracious Professionalism, and "coopertition" (both cooperation and competition). Through these principals, our teams learn to help their competitors so that everyone competes at the highest level.

Because of recent funding challenges, some of the Tulsa area schools have lost their FTC robotics teams. Fortunately, Post 26 has been able to expand our program to not only grow our existing team (10355), but to add a new team so that we can offer this fantastic program to kids who have lost their teams. Both 10355 and our new team, 11572, have a mixed their membership to insure that we are fully inclusive and have the best opportunity to work together in the most productive manner possible.

In just a few short weeks, these kids have welcomed many new members into the organization and are excited about the new FTC challenge just released (kickoff was Saturday, Sept 10th). The post currently has no organization that provides regular funding support and the kids know that they are responsible for raising the funds to compete in FTC this year. That's why the banded together, and took it upon themselves to make this video to ask you for help. The kids would be thrilled to have your support.

About the Video: Like all other Post 26 media (including logos, brochures, letters, and http://post26.org), this video was written, produced, filmed and edited by the youth members of the post.
