Sombetini Primary School, Arusha

My name is Paula Pizzuto and I am in Arusha, Tanzania with IVHQ for the summer. Here I’ve been volunteering as an English teacher at a public school that holds 2,000 students that are facing extreme poverty. With around 100 students per class, these kids are lacking basic school supplies. Many have tattered notebooks or no pencils at all. Despite their best efforts, dedicated teachers struggle to provide quality education due to these limitations.

Therefore, after talking to the school director about what would be the most efficient way to make use of the funds, we concluded that, the funds raised will be to buy items such as notebooks, pens, pencils, markers, erasers, rulers, and a much-needed photocopier.

For this to happen, I will receive the funds to my personal bank account and then, I will go buy all of the supplies with the school director yo make sure that the funds are being used correctly.
