Support Denise's Double Lung Transplant Fund

Donation protected
My beautiful mom, Denise, was diagnosed with a lung disease called pulmonary fibrosis in 2018. Pulmonary fibrosis is a terminal illness that results in progressive scarring of the lung tissue, and can only be helped by a transplant. This disease has slowly but dramatically changed both her life, and the lives of my family. She is now completely dependent on 24 hour oxygen and was most recently given a prognosis of 2 years left of life. Because of this, she has had to make so many heartbreaking sacrifices due to the decline in her quality of life, while we as a family have spent years searching for answers to this impossible situation.

We were recently made aware by my mother's primary specialist that she could possibly have the opportunity at a life saving surgery, a double lung transplant. She was referred to Indiana University, as they are the most knowledgeable and equipped to deal with her specific condition. After months of travel and testing to determine if she is a viable candidate, she has been approved and is now on the transplant list waiting to receive a double lung donation. We are so incredibly thankful to be given this chance at more time together as a family, and so lucky to be working with such an amazing healthcare team.

This opportunity is everything to us, but doesn’t come without cost. A surgery of this scale in another state away from home will affect my family financially for years to come. As her daughter and only child, the least I can do is try to make the weight of this situation a little lighter for her and for my family. With that being said, I have decided to start this GoFundMe with the goal of covering costs of travel, living and medical expenses for both her and my dad and I, as we are her primary support system.

I know that asking for donations can be asking for a lot, but I would love if her story was shared on social media platforms for more exposure by anyone who is able. My mom is everything to me, the true love of my life. She has never fallen short to give me everything I have ever needed, and for that I can never repay her enough. I can't even begin to express my thanks for anyone who has taken the time to read this post, donate, or even just share it with others. Mom, I love you always.
