Kean Tuition

Hi, my name is Yola Lamarre, also known as Yola Marj on social media as a micro-influencer. I am currently a junior at Kean University pursuing aspirations in integrated marketing communications. My desire for schooling stems deeper than an aspiration of educational credentialing but with a passion to truly transform the world.

With Haitian parent immigrants, hard work and sacrifice has been instilled in my understanding in pursuit of success, not just for myself and others. With a daring and sacrificial decision to move to the states, I realize the importance of making decisions not just for yourself, but long-lasting for others in a journey for a betterment in life. This is precisely what I plan to do with my education. Despite consistent hardships I faced in college, I still remained steadfast in making an impact in society and strive to go far and accomplish my goals.

In my early college years, I co-founded “MarketHER” in 2018, a networking organization for young Black women that provided opportunities for representation in corporate, entrepreneurial, and entertainment spaces. I has recently worked with WarnerMedia and their top partners including CNN, Cartoon Network, and NBA Digital as an Ad Sales intern. I am currently interning at the NFL (National Football League) headquarters as a Consumer Insights intern with their international business offices in Marketing, Consumer Products, and Media. My internship ends August 13th.

As an organizer, my voice pervades communities to raise awareness on social issues ranging from racism to homelessness. Her persistent activism is paired with volunteer work. In 2019, I used my social media platform to fundraise over dozens of water resources to Newark, NJ citizens in the duration of a lead issue. By God's grace, I also individually mentored over dozens of students throughout Union County, in academia, mental health, spirituality, and professional development. Volunteerism is also important for me and so I prioritize lift as I climb by willingly serving my Roselle community through events such as “Chat-N-Chew”, an after school mentoring program catered to young women at Abraham Clark. Also, I organized a “Black Lives Matter” protest in Roselle, and most recently advocated for displaced families from a Roselle apartment fire by providing resources and monetary donations.

Though with many hats and still attending Kean University to study communications, in the future, I aspire to extend the work I already done by creating crucial partnerships with leaders and building global developmental programs that will provide opportunities for underrepresented people in society. I will also continue advancing in Christian advocacy and activism for social issues including racism, poverty, sexual education, education access, violence, domestic violence, and more.

I have not arrived and there is still work I believe God would love to demonstrate through me. Education will play a huge part in forerunning places and industries to go forward. This work can continue and these goals will be mobilized with your help with a donation towards my college tuition and my journey in education. Thank you for reading, your patience, and parterning with me in believing in God for my tuition to be paid.
