Joy was diagnosed with throat cancer (a cancerous growth on her vocal chords) just before Christmas last year. She has been using natural healing methods to build her immune system and try to kick the cancer.
I just got done texting Joy and I wanted to give an update. She went to a Dr. appointment today and was informed that the tumor is growing. No sign of metastasis thankfully, but the concern is that her airway is getting closed off slowly. Unless she is miraculously healed before the surgery, they are planning on putting in a feeding tube and doing a tracheotomy. The plan is to start chemotherapy and radiation in a month - 6 weeks.
We ask for prayer for healing.
We are not sure how much of the treatment will be covered, but have been made aware that there will be expenses on top of what the insurance will cover. Please give if you feel led and please share!
Original message: Joy Brinlee is a blessing to this world. Her love and care for others is evident to everyone who sees her. Joy had always been one to tell people how beautiful they are, how much God loves them, and how powerful and amazing He is. She has always blessed people with her beautiful singing. However, in June of 2015 she began to lose her voice and it steadily declined until she was unable to speak. On December 21, 2015 Joy went in for a surgery to remove a polyp that had formed on her vocal chords. The doctor found it to be cancerous.
Joy and her husband Jared do not fear the diagnosis of cancer in the slightest; they are joyful and excited about what God is going to do through healing her voice. The verses she has been given that she is holding onto are:
Song of Solomon 2:10-12 "My beloved spoke and said to me,
“Arise, my darling,
my beautiful one, come with me.
See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves
is heard in our land."
Psalm 40:3 "He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him."
We know Joy will be healed and that God will fulfill His promises to her that she will sing again. She has chosen to treat the cancer naturally with several proven methods. The treatments are not cheap and the expenses are adding up for Joy and her growing family (she and her husband Jared have 5 children now).
Joy gave birth to little Eralynn 4 months ago and that sweet baby has yet to hear her momma's voice. We are so looking forward to her hearing that beautiful sound.
