Dear All,
one of our colleagues, Jaime, has recently experienced a profound and unimaginable loss: his wife passed away shortly after giving birth to their daughter.
As you can imagine, this has left Jaime in a state of profound grief, now facing the early days of fatherhood without his life partner by his side. The emotional toll of such a loss is beyond words, and it comes just as he is beginning a completely new and demanding chapter: caring for a newborn as a single parent.
In addition to the emotional pain, Jaime is now facing a number of financial challenges:
- Managing the household and mortgage on a single income, while providing stability and presence for a single child
- Extending or intensifying postpartum and in-home support services
- Ensuring his child receives as much love and presence as possible which may mean taking additional unpaid time off or adjusting his professional life temporarily
- Managing day-to-day logistics alone including medical visits, infant care, and returning to work
- Dealing with the unexpected costs that may arise
As friends and colleagues, we want to come together to show our support and solidarity. We are organizing this collection to provide some relief during this painful and uncertain time. The funds raised will be transferred to Jaime directly to use however he deems most helpful - whether to extend home care services, secure additional support for the baby or simply to ease the many burdens that come with such a life changing event.
This is of course completely voluntary. Any amount - no matter how small - will make a difference, and your message of support will mean just as much.
