Mario's Stem Cell Transplant Fund
Donation protected
Hello, I am Mario Braston. I am a 43 year old, single father of two. My sons are ages 19 and 16. I am a physical education teacher at Franklin County High School in Winchester,TN. In addition to teaching in the classroom, I am the head track coach, an assistant football coach, and an assistant basketball coach. The joy and fulliment I have felt from leading and guiding these young people to reach their fullest potential in the classroom, in sports, and in life is indescrible. I feel that it is a priviledge to be given the opportunity to be a postive force in their lives.
I am currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment for Amyloidosis , a rare blood disease,
and Multiple Myeloma , a plasma cell cancer. My treatment is being managed by Ingram Cancer Center at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN. As part of my journey to become cancer free, I will need a stem cell transplant. This will require my mom and I stay for no less than 30 days in a specialized apartment or an extended stay hotel in Nashville. After a successful transplant, I will continue my recovery for many months at home.
I am hoping to begin the first step of the stem cell transplant process in late February or early March. At that time, I will no longer be able to teach. The donation made by you to this account will be used to cover the costs of my extended stay in Nashville and to help pay for the medicines I will need during recovery.
