On Mother's Day, our lives turned upside down. What was a simple ingrown hair on Blake's upper leg, turned into a life threatening infection called Fourniers Gangrene & Necrotizing Fasciitis (flesh eating bacteria.) By now 5 different antibiotics have been tried with no improvement. Blake being diabetic, just made the infection and bacteria run rampant, and kept his sugars stuck in the 400's due to the antibiotics & infection. By day 7 and his 3rd surgery, coming off the vent he quit breathing as his lungs spasmed up and were seized. This landed him 2 more days on the vent and still in ICU. By day 12, he just had his 6th surgery. Plastic surgeon is not ready to close his open wound, which is 30cm x 50cm, for another 2-3 weeks. Blake will have surgery roughly every other day for Wound Vac changes/cleanings, and debridement, until the Plastic Surgeon can start doing skin graphs and piecing the love of my life back together again. Blake will also have to go to a specialized care place, following, for PT/OT. Surgeries are very scary. Blake having COPD & Sleep Apnea, he is a terrible candidate for anesthesia, thus having problems before. Blake has been with his company come 10 years in July, and is the sole provider for our family of 6. I am a stay at home mom of Baron 14, Brogan 9, Banner 5 & Braizlyn 3. Our youngest two don't quite understand, but they miss him terribly and enjoy visiting him, even if for a short 15 minutes due to pain, etc. Unfortunately, Blake's insurance isn't so great and he doesn't have Long/Short Term disability. He had 6 hours worked , on his paycheck & about 4 days of PTO. That's it, that's where it ends. Brogan is Autistic and has several appointments a week that we already attend and he also goes to Childrens Hospital in Omaha. Baron has an appointment in July, at Shriners Hospital in Minnesota, to address his ankle/foot problems, and to schedule a surgery up there with them. I have always been a firm believer, that if I give and help the community the best I can, that in hardship I would be taken care of. This is that time, that my family and I need help to pay rent, pay bills, gas the vehicle for appointments, pay medical bills, get prescriptions and just get by until Blake is healthy and well. I appreciate anything and everything, and can't even begin to express how thankful I am ♡
