Hello, I'm Wali and I was an Interpreter for the British Army during the War in Afghanistan.
During an ambush by the Taliban I was blinded by an IED explosion. After spending months in hospital I was resettled in the UK with my family. Given the recent events, I am one of the lucky ones.
Many people are stuck in Afghanistan and need help. It is estimated as many as 18 million could be starving since the Taliban took over.
I want to continue my service to the people of Afghanistan, which is why I am running to fundraise and encourage those in the UK and internationally to give support to those who are starving and are in urgent need of food.
The first race will be on 10.10.2021 at the Colchester Zoo Stampede Half Marathon and the second is the Chelmsford AC 10K on 21st November. I will continue to enter races to raise awareness.
I will also be swimming at Colchester Phoenix Amateur Swimming Club. The gala competition is on the 11th December.

All proceeds will be sent directly to aid workers in Afghanistan. Due to the current chaotic situation, I intend to send all donations directly to trusted contacts in Afghanistan, who will distribute it to families who urgently need support to buy food and medical supplies at this very difficult time.
