Noah's Adventure

Hello. My name is John, better known as Bear amongst friends. It is with heavy heart that I am writing the story of this courageous young girl Noah.
Noah has been a huge part of our family and has brought an abundance of laughter, love and lately many tears. Her heart and compassion for others earned her a junior member patch with Bikers Against Bullying and a mentor to many younger children in the area.
In October of 2023, Noah had mentioned a pain in her neck. From what she was describing, it was put off as "growing pains" and just an unfortunate strained muscle due to her continuing enjoyment of life on the trampoline and pool. By December of 2023, the pain had elevated and was now including the symptom of loosing feeling in her right arm. Noah continued to worsen to the point where the numbness was going to her foot and the use of her hand was minimalizing. After a few months of waiting for her guardian to take her in to her family doctor, I made the decision to bring her into Kamloops Royal Hospital where they did a CT scan to see if a pinched nerve was the culprit. The Doctor returned to inform us that the scan returned showing an "anomaly"... The scans were sent to Children's Hospital in Vancouver where we were quickly called down and told that immediate scans were needed.
On March 14th, my wife drove her down to VCH and Noah went in for an MRI and the anomaly was found to be a 10cm mass that was growing along the spinal column inside the vertebrae. The next morning, Noah was put under for an intense surgery lasting over 7 hours where the top of her spine was removed in order to lift the spinal cord and access the growth.
The surgery was a success and the doctors were optimistic that they were able to remove all of the growth. The aftermath of the surgery required Noah to spend the next few months in the hospital to regain the use of her hand and learn how to walk all over again. She made a miraculous recovery in record time and was able to return home in between hospital check ups. By May, the doctor called back with a confirmation that the growth was in fact a High Grade Glioma and an aggressive cancer... So back to VCH to start an intense Radiation treatment for 6 weeks Monday to Friday, only having time on the weekend to recover before returning for an additional onslaught of radiation. Fairly quickly after the radiation ended, chemo took over every 6 weeks and additional MRI scans to be done every 3 months
When everything was all said and done, we had the great news that the area seemed to remain clear and it would appear that the chemo and radiation worked causing her cancer to go into remission! Noah's specialist continued on with her Chemo in hopes that it would continue to reduce the chance of it returning,
In February, on a routine scan, it showed that the growth had returned.. by mid march, the chemo had ended and the growth had indeed continued to grow through the treatment. The last MRI has shown a little more growth in the tumor and had also shown growths in multiple other spots of her spine... the worst part about it was the cancer cells have now shown up in the lining of her brain. Her cancer has been deemed inoperable.. the only thing that they can do is continue the chemo in hopes to extend her time with us in the search for a cure.

Make a wish was contacted and "Noah's Adventure" was started. Her goal was to travel and see more of the world! Get to experience different things that for the most part are overlooked by many of us! Like visiting a ghost town, traveling to national parks, hot springs, and just get to be a kid like any 15 year old should!
Make a wish is potentially going to cover the cost of the motorhome (will update as more information comes through) and that's about it. There is going to be a lot of back and forth to VCH in-between adventures and Chemo treatments.
So i am reaching out to my fellow brothers and sisters of the road, to the mothers and fathers and to everyone that can help even a little in making Noah's Adventure the brightest moment of her darkest time.
funds will go to as follows:
Fuel
Food
Attraction costs
Emergency costs
and all other unexpected expenses over the next few months on the road!

much love to you all.
