Jackie is the youngest of six siblings, and from a young age, she’s been a dedicated caregiver. At just 16, she tragically lost her mother and stepped up to take on the household responsibilities, caring for her father. Over the years, Jackie’s life has been marked by a series of health challenges, yet she has faced each obstacle with incredible strength and determination.

Jackie, along with her husband Mike, have had to manage her many health struggles. Diagnosed with high blood pressure and gestational diabetes during her pregnancies with her three children—Mekenzie, Michael, and Logan—Jackie’s health has only grown more complicated over time. After Logan’s birth at 31, her diabetes never went away, and it has worsened over the years. In 2013, she was diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy, and a shunt was placed in her eye, which has since caused vision problems and left her unable to drive at night. In 2018, Jackie underwent a triple bypass surgery, and in 2022, she faced another challenge when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Most recently, Jackie’s diabetes caused her to enter stage 5 renal failure, requiring dialysis. After complications with her initial dialysis catheter, Jackie’s situation became more urgent. She was placed on the kidney transplant list. In March 2025, Jackie received the life-changing call she had been waiting for—a kidney transplant was available. Thanks to the selfless gift from a donor’s family, Jackie is now receiving a new lease on life.

The road to recovery will be long, with at least 4 months of healing ahead. Throughout this journey, Jackie’s primary concern has always been her beloved son, Michael, who has been battling muscular dystrophy since he was five. Jackie’s devotion to him has been unwavering, and the thought of not being able to care for him during this recovery period is one of her biggest fears.
