Aunt Tracy Fights Pancreatic Cancer

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

My name is Peter and earlier today, my aunt Tracy was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. This is a rare form of cancer and most people live for only an additional 3-6 months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. When my family and I came upon the news, we were heartbroken.

Our Story

Originally, I was born in Canada with my sister Kathy. When we were young, our parents divorced and my mom was left to raise the two of us on her own. After the divorce, our dad would come looking for us and threaten my mom to give his children back to him.  He would bang on our windows and threaten to break down our door and we lived in constant fear even though my mom retained custody.

My mom raised us with very little. She did not receive any child support and with little knowledge of English, she made just enough money to put food on the table. She would work long hours and my sister and I were always home alone growing up without parents. I still remember waking up to see my mom gone and going to sleep without my mom by my side.

When I was four, my aunt Tracy visited us in Canada. She was heartbroken to see my sister and I anxiously waiting late at night for our mom to come home safely to put food on the table. She invited us to move to California with her

Aunt Tracy's apartment was neither spacious nor comfy, and while we ended up sleeping on her living room floor, it was the first time in my life that I had felt safe and at home. Aunt Tracy lived with my Uncle Tung and my grandparents. This was the first time in my life that I was surrounded by people that loved me and I was finally able to be a kid. I didn't have to worry about taking care of my sister when we were home alone and waiting late at night to see my mom.

Aunt Tracy made it her mission to make sure that we were able to enjoy being kids. She would drive us to school, take us out on the weekends, and play board games with us at night.  She didn't have any kids and she treated us as if we were her own. To us, she was basically our second mom.

Aunt Tracy knew raising Kathy and I would be expensive so on top of her day job, she worked a night job delivering papers for the San Jose Mercury News. She promised us that even though she had to work a lot, she always made sure that her weekends were free to take us out.

Aunt Tracy provided us with something that is priceless, a childhood. She sacrificed so much so that Kathy and I would be able to have a better life in the United States and that we would no longer have to live in fear and loneliness. We love her so much and there is no way that we would ever be able to repay her.

Her Condition

On January 25th, 2016,  Aunt Tracy was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. It is a terrible illness and many of people who are diagnosed with it do not make it past a few months. Unfortunately, most people with Pancreatic Cancer live with it their whole life. The only treatment for it is chemotherapy and surgery, but neither can fully cure her of her cancer.

Who is Aunt Tracy?

Aunt Tracy is a wife, a mother, and my beloved aunt. She has a wonderful husband and an 8-year old son who means the world to her. She is mine and Kathy's second mother, my mother's older sister, and my grandmother's wonderful daughter. We are all fighting and praying for Tracy. She is an amazing woman and we still need her with us!

How You Can Help

I thank all of you who have read this far. I know that many of you are facing many difficulties in your daily lives but if any of you are able to help us out we would deeply appreciate it. Any amount helps. Even if you are not able to help monetarily, you would still be doing us a huge favor by sharing this on your Facebook Feed and spreading awareness. We do not know how much time we have with Aunt Tracy, but we want to make sure we try everything before it's too late.

Donations

All donations will go directly to Aunt Tracy to help her with treatment and medical expenses.
