Judy Blackmore needs our help. She is my neighbor and my friend and that's why I'm helping her in her time of trouble. Judy was heading home Saturday evening December 7th when she was involved in a vehicle accident. She stopped at an intersection after picking up pizza at Fontas in Greeley. She looked both ways but when she proceeded, her truck was hit by another pickup coming from the left. She and the other driver weren't hurt but her truck was - badley!!
Her truck was towed to an impound lot and thus began her problems -
money problems... We were able to get her truck out of the tow lot Monday morning but her bill was over $300.00. We carefully drove to a local repair shop that she uses and waited for the news, hoping for the best. The next day she was told the frame is bent, the gas tank is rubbing on the frame and the gas tank input spout is crushed---not good news!!
Judy is 80 years of age and works as a school crossing guard for the Greeley Police Dept. She loves her job but has to have her truck to get to work. She works at several schools in the Greeley depending on where they need help. She goes to the school in the morning to get the kids safely to school and comes back in the afternoon to get them back home. I love to hear her stories about different incidents with the students - kids say the darnedest things! Don't tell anyone, but she cut the electrical cord off of a hair dryer and uses it as a radar gun to convince some drivers to SLOW DOWN!! She swears it works.
Because the accident bent Bessee's (that's what she calls her truck) frame it isn't repairable which means she has to replace her. That's when I suggested a Gofund Me account. Judy draws Social Security but does not have the funds to replace her truck. She has managed to keep the truck in good running condition, it's a 1991 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup that she has owned for 16 years. Not only has she lost her means to get to work, she has lost a treasure. After you've had a vehicle for that long it's like a trusted friend.
All I Want for Christmas...is to help put Judy back on the road so she can get to work. Most 80 year olds aren't able to work but our Judy is going strong and part of what does that is her active work life. She grew up in the Lakewood area riding horses as a member of the Lakewood Westernaires. She is also an alum of the Westernaires Organization. If any of you have ever seen the women riding in our local rodeos, you know they are a bunch of strong, brave and talented women. Riding a 1200 pound horse takes skill but how they do it is at "breakneck" speed. Judy still shows that kind of grit with the way she lives life to this day.
We Rise By Lifting Others
I don't believe there's a more inspiring way to look at life than that saying.
Right now we can all take part in lifting Judy Blackmore up by giving a little or a lot -it all helps. She would continue to drive Bessee in her present condition but it isn't possible. She wants to purchase a used pickup because that's what she's always driven.
