I'm Keith. I'm 62 and am disabled and living only on a social security check. I have been living in my house for 28 years, which is paid for, but owned by my 86 year old step father who is failing. In 2019 there was a mistake in paying the property taxes and I now owe $22,500 in back taxes. The State of California will put my house up for auction in December unless the back taxes are paid. This is far beyond my means to pay. I cannot take out a loan because of my disability income and my step dad is simply too old. I do not qualify for the State's 5 year payback plan. I'm asking for help so I don't lose my house. I don't have anywhere else for me and my two cats to go. I don't want to end up living in my car. And if I lose my home, I lose my home office where I work to earn extra income. I am in a desperate situation and time is running out.
