Save Little Albert

Hi, my names Alex.

I'm embarrassed to be writing this, but it comes from absolute desperation. I know some people won't understand, and I do not expect them to. I just know that if I don't at least try, I will regret it for the rest of my life.

This is my baby, Albie. He is the sweetest boy you would ever meet. Albie wasn't given the best chance in life, as he was mistreated by his previous owners. When I rescued him he was skinny, covered in fleas, and had cat flu from irresponsible breeding. Albie nearly died as a kitten, but myself (well, mainly the vets) saved him. 4 years on, and he has become my best friend. I simply can't imagine life without him.

Unfortunately last week, Albert acquired a urinary blockage. PDSA refused to treat him due to me previously attending a private clinic, so all I could do to save him was try and aquire the money for his surgery. Out of pure luck I managed to get the money. £2,800 later, Albert had his surgery, and then was moved to another vets to recover.

Unfortunately, urinary blockages are not simple. Once it is unblocked, there is a high chance that - due to stress while at the vets- it can be blocked up again. The first month, but especially the first week after surgery is critical, and the urinary tract could block itself at anytime without warning. It is a matter of chance.

My problem here is, if Albert's urinary tract blocks again, I do not have another £2800 for another round of surgery. PDSA will still refuse to treat him due me having him seen privately ONE TIME. So my best friend, will unfortunately have to be put down. I cannot begin to explain the utter heartache this gives me.

Albert is at home with me now recovering, but we have to take it one day at a time. If his tract were to block again today or tomorrow and I do not have the money, I will have to do the unthinkable.

I cannot sit and watch my gentle, loving, best friend lose his life when there is a possible way for him to live. Albert didn't have the best start in life, so he doesn't deserve a bad ending either.

If I could please convince anyone reading this, if they have anything spare, even 20p. It would change two lives, his and mine.

I would also like to make it clear that this money would only ever be spent if that day comes, but at this moment in time, it may be looking more likely that it will. And I just know from my heart that if it does, I owe it to him to give him one last chance.

Thank you for reading.
