In Memory of Eric Eugene Thompson ❤️

As many of you know, Eric was in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, July 3rd. While merging, a lady came up really quick behind him, bumped him and he had to drive through the median, hit the gravel, flipped and rolled his bike. He snapped his left humerus bone in half, up by the shoulder, he also completely shattered his right wrist, and broke his right big toe on top of the foot.. he had road rash head to toe and gashed up.

The plan was for him to have surgery Monday morning but a couple of his levels were not safe to do surgery yet. Tuesday they had things under control and he was scheduled for surgery for both arms. A second surgery for the wrist was to be at a later date.

The plan at this point was to have him in ICU for a couple of days as this was expected to be a tough recovery. Lots of hardware was involved to piece him together.

The surgery took longer than anticipated; things were a mess in there. Plate and screws on both sides and they were able to do all surgeries needed, so a second surgery on his wrist was no longer necessary. Initially they thought a nerve might have been severed, which was not the case… all good news!! ICU overnight to keep him sedated and intubated.

Things seemed okay the next morning… As the surgery went so well, we all had good vibes, but as the day continued, things started going down hill very quickly. He kept throwing blood clots, which ultimately caused respiratory failure and cardiac arrest. Eric could not fight through these; after multiple times of this happening, he passed away on July 6th at 6:45pm.

To say our family is completely devastated would be an understatement ~ Eric unfortunately did not have a life insurance policy, and we have had an outpouring of messages from people asking how they can be of help in our time of need.

We decided to start a GoFundMe page to make things easier for everyone wanting to help and to make it easier for his wife, Hallie, and kids to deal with all of the funeral expenses, medical expenses not covered by insurance, Celebration of life gathering.

Hallie is self-employed and will be off of work for some time…. This family needs all the help we can give them.
