My name is Patrick and I am a previously incarcerated individual. I am raising money to complete the last 27 hours (9 classes) that I need to finish my degree in Communication with a concentration in Media Studies.   I got addicted to drugs during my fifth year at Kennesaw State University, my vision began to get clouded and I made choices that I am still paying for today. I was in and out of jails, rehabs and prison every year from 2014 until 2019. I have been clean since the day of my arrest on June 23, 2016. I was released on Dec 16, 2019 from the Atlanta Transitional Center. I am currently pending acceptance at Kennesaw State University and am beyond elated! (acceptance update will be coming soon) The completion of this degree will be the breaking of a viscous cycle of consequences that stem from drug usage and unclear thinking that all began in 2012 but will be the start of a new journey that is signified by the potential that I truly have.  I know that I have made a lot of irresponsible choices but have taken the time to self-reflect and face the things in my life that led me to drug usage. I can now confidently say that I am focused on what it is that I need to do to rebuild myself and become who I was meant to be.
