Many of you may or may not know by now, but our baby sister Kathleen Burns was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer. She's 34 years old (so ladies, go get checked!) Needless to say, it's turned her world upside down and rocked those who know and love her to our core. Her OB found it in a routine wellness exam and likely saved her life. She recommended my sister receive treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ. We have since met the incredible team at Mayo and her treatment has already begun. The recommended treatment plan has started with chemotherapy, later surgery, and then radiation. All maintained with hormone therapy long after.

Kathleen is going to be doing her best to continue working, though will eventually need time off to heal. She is also traveling back and forth between Phoenix and El Paso so she can be with her daughter who is in high school, her husband Kyle, and all their adopted pets.

Our family is asking for support - whether you are in a place where you can donate financially to help with the medical and travel costs or your support looks more like in-person or long-distance love, well wishes, prayers, or even a share… all of it is welcome and deeply appreciated.

This is going to be a long journey for Kathleen, but those of you who know her know she is as fierce as the lion she proudly tattooed on her chest and as resilient as the phoenix she has on her feet; signs of the quiet strength she already carries and the battles already won.
