It is with a heavy heart that we announce the unexpected and sudden passing of our dear friend, Vasyl. He was a friend and brother to so many of us. Vasyl leaves us with many amazing memories of him.
After pharmacy school, Vasyl moved to California and worked as a pharmacy manager in Modesto until 2020. He has one brother who lives in Ukraine. His mom, Olha Honcharov, came to the US from Ukraine to care for Vasyl as he was going through a difficult time. Unfortunately, she did not get a chance to say goodbye to him. At this time, his mother and extended family wish not to disclose the details of his passing and request that we respect their family wishes.
Due to the current situation in Ukraine, it is especially difficult for his family to pay for the funeral costs. Furthermore, his mom came to the US to flee the war and thought she could rely on Vasyl for financial support. Unfortunately, Vasyl left no money behind. Currently, his brother is forced to fight on the frontlines in the war, and his mother cannot go back to Ukraine as it is not safe. Vasyl's body was cremated. His mom used all her savings to pay a $750 fee to obtain Vasyl's ashes. She hopes to store the ashes at a local cemetery so he can rest in peace and have a location for his remembrance.
I ask everyone to give with their heart and help fundraise as much as possible for Vasyl's mother, Olha Honcharova. We hope to collect enough money for her to pay for the funeral costs and be able to support herself until it is safe to return home to Ukraine. Thank you and God bless.
