Dear Friends and family,
It’s never easy to ask for help, but I’m reaching out to you on behalf of my son Vaskar. With great sadness and a heavy heart, we have to share the unexpected passing of Vaskar Tamang on Friday, December 2nd, 2022. Vaskar was a wonderful person who touched the lives of those around him. He leaves behind me (his mother), his wife, and a younger brother, and friends. As you know, he suffered a serious accident on May 19, 2022, on his way to work. Initially, he had a basilar skull fracture, multiple orbital fractures as well as abdominal trauma. Then he was airlifted to Pittsburgh for further management of Traumatic Brain Injury. He had numerous brain surgeries and ended up with the surgery to remove the left part of his brain and the bone covering it. He underwent extensive therapies and interventions and always had the utmost support, care, and love from friends and family during recovery. As planned, he was transferred back for autologous cranioplasty (to put back his skull bone) on July 29th, but the Infection complicated it. Later, he was admitted on November 30, 2022, to put a plastic skull bone. He had an uneventful surgery but was later complicated by diffuse cerebral edema (swelling of his brain) and stroke. Doctors had to operate on his right side, which he could not tolerate leading to more brain damage and Vaskar, in his passing, touched four strangers’ lives and their families. On the other end of this spectrum, through our tremendous paralyzing grief, there are four other families forever grateful for Vaskars life and the gifts he was able to give to them. Completely joyous and so very thankful because we chose to donate his organs to hopefully save someone's life. With Vaskars life, he saved four other lives. A hero up till the very end.
Unfortunately, the person who hit him had no insurance, and Vaskar also didn’t have an Insurance policy that would compensate for this loss. The family has already amassed a significant financial burden as they look forward to legally fighting his case. With all the emotional pain and stress that death brings, it can also bring financial obligations. Please consider donating, as any amount will truly help our family during this difficult time. Our family was unprepared for the high cost of a funeral, and during this challenging time, we reached out to the community for help.
Thank you so much, and have a wonderful day.
