Hello all dog lovers!
About Vasilka:
Silka is an 8 year old greyhound, and we adopted her approximately 3 years ago from Hemopet Greyhound Hospital in Garden Grove, California. She was rescued at 2 years old by Hemopet Hospital from a racetrack in Mexico that no longer wanted her because she broke her Right Hind Hock in the time trials during her short lived racing career.
She came to us at 5 years old with pre-exhisting conditions of Arthritis and a previous right hind leg fracture, and I suppose that is why nobody wanted her.
She is a very sweet, loving, happy girl who loves lounging on her soft bed, eating tasty treats, playing with her friends at the dog park, going on short nature walks, playing at the beach and so much more. However, this has all since been put on hold to lessen the damages that could result in more injury, until we are able to have her surgery done.
Vasilka's cause:
Just 24 hours ago, she was diagnosed with 2 broken bones in her Right Front Lateral leg and upon her X-ray results and a splint being wrapped around her leg, it was discovered that she must get orthopedic surgery right away. Eventually this will lead to bone degeneration and possible leg amputation if not taken care of soon!
We are asking for donations of any size to help us get one step closer to saving Vasilka's leg.
This means so much to us because Vasilka is in a great deal of pain right now, she is like a child to us and we have bonded with her so much over the past 3 years of her life. She is considered family. We know she would still be living in a crate at Hemopet Hospital right now if we did not rescue her in 2013 when she was 5 years old. We have given her a great life of purpose and we love her very much.
We would be so greatful if you could help donate to Vaskila's Medical fund, so she can get the surgery that she needs to heal properly, so she may be able to walk again.
Thank you so much!
Very Best,
Theresa, Brad & Vasilka
