Dear Vashon Island Educators, Community Members, and those important to us outside of the Vashon Community:


The 2020/2021 Vashon Island Young Leaders of Color scholarship exists to support our community's graduating seniors with funds for them to utilize in pursuit of their goals. Because of your generosity, last year we were able to provide 3 young leaders of color with $1000 each. 


This year we hope to expand our capacity significantly and offer a scholarship to 33 Vashon Island graduating seniors! 


As educators, we have had the immense privilege to help shape the lives of some incredible students over the past four years. And at this moment we are gearing up to celebrate their graduation from high school and sending them off into a world filled with so many unknowns. 


For the second year running, members of our racial equity team are in a position to provide much-needed support for our students of color as they make this life-changing transition to adulthood. From traditional college programs to trade school, or an English Language Learner program at a local community college - these young adults have plans, they have determination, and they all have a need for financial support. 


As we begin our fundraising campaign this year our team currently has $1500 of seed money, but with 33 students on our list this year (up from 3 students last year) our goal is to provide $500 to each of our graduating young leaders of color, creating a total goal of $15,000.
