I could write a novel about the issues our family has faced in the last two years. My family has endured unsafe living conditions, financial hardship, and health scares.

I live with my two sons, one of whom is autistic. My social security check is $2,000 a month, but it isn't enough. Our mortgage is over $1,800 a month and our most recent power bill for one month was $1,185 because of a tiny water leak that went unnoticed. That cost us $150 to repair. This is a difficult way to live, at best.

Our life here is not sustainable for multiple reasons and I have a rational fear that I will die early here because getting across town to see my doctor monthly is almost an impossibility.

An opportunity has presented itself that will change our lives for the better. Our family has been offered an opportunity to move, rent-free, to a family property in Massachusetts. I will not have to pay for power or internet, as my family member will handle those bills, making my social security check much more sustainable for food and basic needs.

There is also a doctor within walking distance from the home we will be living in, so I will have much easier access to medical care. My autistic son will also have services available to him that are not available to him here in Florida.

We are estimating about $20,000 total for this move. The money from the fundraiser will go to moving our belongings from Florida to Massachusetts, plane tickets to get us all to our new home, making certain our pets get to Massachusetts safely and are vetted with proper health certificates, as required by law. Money will go to helping us get things we need when we arrive and also making certain all of our bills are paid off here before we go. This move is expensive, but it will keep us all alive, happy, and healthy, with a much more sustainable way to live. All I want for my family is health, happiness, and safety.
