Calliope

Yesterday, I tripped over Calliope, my 5 month old Basset hound puppy, and broke her leg! My local vet and a second opinion this morning both recommend surgery that is estimated to cost $3000 at Tufts, in addition to last night's bill. I have been trying to find a vet who is willing to splint the leg but  several have made comments about how that does not work well on  Bassets because  they have crooked legs to begin with.

I do work, teaching history at Framingham State University but they have cut my classes and I now make 50% of what I made last year. $3000 is just beyond my abilities.

If you kind folks out there could help, I would be forever grateful. She is a sweet dog and I was horrified when one vet suggested I surrender her to the MSPCA so that she could have the surgery and be adopted out!
