My mom Judina "judy" called by those who know her, is a strong Lady who is continually fighting to survive. We went from having to do all things for her an independent person does on their own and can say she has graduated from that. Nonetheless, I watch her fight every day; struggling to speak, sleepless nights due to coughing, vomiting, inflamed body pains, and continued breathing issues along with diabetic insulin shots. The meds help but also drain her, procedures are ongoing but tire her out. The monthly calendar is booked for specialists and follow-ups. This is not a vacation more like an unwanted dream. Mom has tried to hide her pain, fake that she is ok when the reality is she is still fighting. The outside is looking better but the inside is like going through a car wreck every other day when you have healed 45% of your body. A person who 6months back could not breathe, walk, talk, write, eat, blurred vision, coughing, puking, and lost so much weight unnecessarily. I am sure you know how it feels to watch a loved one deteriorate before your eyes until you have to accept the inescapable truth. I am her 22-year-old daughter, Armanni, and I am not ready to watch her leave any of us. The doctors call her a “Walking Miracle.” Sadly she has to remain on antibiotics for a year if she wants to stay alive. I have faith that God is doing his part. However, not working, waiting for disability to process her case, depleting all that you have, and having to need the medications to sustain your very life is a stressor for anyone. The medical insurance she has now is paid out of pocket because her leave terms from work are bonkers. How can one heal when they are concern about paying for meds, co-pays, having collectors calling your home for medical payments? This is a plea for help to keep her focus on healing and not the things she can’t control right now. If you know my mom she doesn’t let anything get the better of her and will fight.
