Vanuatu Wheelchair and Para-Tennis Program and Equipment

Donation protected
Hi my name is Naomi, I am a wheelchair tennis player in Australia and I started this campaign to help support the Vanuatu wheelchair and para-tennis program.

Having successfully raised enough to repair their wheelchairs in December 2025, my next goal is to support the players from Vanuatu and New Caledonia to travel to Australia in 2026 to attend some player development and tournament opportunities, then continue expanding initiatives and support across the wider Pacific Island region.

[Original campaign]:

Over the past three years, I have visited from Australia and joined in at the Vanuatu wheelchair and para-tennis program, welcomed with open arms and big smiles despite some minor language barriers.

To see the development of the players between visits is fantastic, but their equipment is falling apart. Whilst they have a number of great sports wheelchairs, with limited to no local suppliers for wheelchair tyres and tubes, they are unable to afford to maintain the equipment they have, as well as playing with heavy, old racquets that have tattered or missing grips.

On my previous visit to Vanuatu, I spent my own money to purchase 20 tennis racquets and donated these, along with second hand balls, markers and nets to a local village school in Pango. Now, I am hoping I can do more to support local players with a disability to participate and continue their development within the sport and grow their program.

My first goal is to fundraise to purchase and deliver the maintenance supplies they need to get every one of their wheelchairs back in a functional state so players can continue their development and help create more opportunities for new players to join and participate regularly. [Achieved December 2025]

My second goal, is to purchase and deliver a range of new or second hand adult tennis racquets and replacement grips for regular maintenance, along with a supply of new tennis balls for the program. [Achieved December 2025]

My third goal, is to be able to support players to travel to Australia to participate in player development opportunities and tournaments.

I travelled back to Vanuatu in December 2025 to support and participate in their VAS Regional Championships, along with some fellow Australian wheelchair and para-tennis players, and players from Vanuatu and other Pacific Islands.
