VANUATU EARTHQUAKE 2024 COMMUNITY HELP

As you all probably know Vanuatu has been devastated by the most severe earthquake in our history, being hit by a 7.3 quake on Tuesday afternoon, followed by countless aftershocks and a tsunami warning. The damage, people injured and killed has been catastrophic and a national emergency has been declared, we have 14 people confirmed dead and this number rising with people still in buildings and over 200 people injured.

If this has not been horrific enough, we have also had a looming threat of an incoming cyclone dangling. Villages are being evacuated and displaced due to the risk of landslides. Words really do not do any justice and it truly is indescribable to those not here to witness the horror and heartbreak. These people have lost everything and its day 3 and we are still in fear. As our brothers and sisters are all preparing for christmas back in Aus and NZ and all around the world our community is trying to seek shelter, medicine, food, water and the basic necessities needed for survival. All whilst locating loved ones and dealing with severe traumas and death of those around us.

We are eternally grateful for the aid finally arriving but ask that any friends and family that want to help, to feel free to donate to the link below. We will make sure that any money raised will be given straight to those locals directly in need and any left over, we will use to buy christmas presents for the children impacted in the local villages.

I personally, was here alone without my partner. My dog and I were in the city and separated but luckily made it through. I truly would not have made it without the locals here who held me, fed me, sheltered me and showed me what to do and how to survive and rescue others at the same time.

They taught me to be selfless and brave and I will never forget it. These people who have nothing took so many of us westerners in and I will never be able to repay them for keeping me safe when I was truly alone and this is my way of hopefully repaying them for some of the kindness and humility they showed me.

Any amount will help & be truly appreciated. Hug the people you love and be kind to people. You never know who you will need one day and in the most traumatic moments, even strangers become your family. This country and these people have healed my heart and it breaks again seeing the pain this country is in. But they still smile.
