Vanuatu Cyclone Relief Fundraiser
Donation protected
Last week Cyclone Judy ran straight over us in Pango Village Vanuatu. Fortunately we were in rated house that stood strong. This first category 4 cyclone took down all vegitation in its path. Powerlines and phone towers were also taken out. With no further communication a second category 4 cyclone (Kevin) hit less than 2 days later. This time the houses were the main casualty.
Pango village and beyond now faces a huge cleanup effort with a critical need for tin roofing and timber to put people back in shelter. But what will be even more punishing to the ni-Vanuatu people is the major food shortage that will ensue. Six months without the return of crops. Please donate so we can prepare food parcels for families in our immediate community (Pango). They have limited earning capacity whilst being self sufficient under normal circumstances. Let us provide seedlings and seeds so food gardens can be replanted. Let use purchase some basic building materials to provide interim shelter.
It is upsetting that this is not headline news around the world. A nation has been devastated. The biggest challenges of food shortage and health issues are only beginning. Last week a lush green tropical country is without leaves and turning brown.
Any donations hugely appreciated.
