Our sweet boy Vanilla was recently diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) on July 30th. The day before that morning, he was his normal, happy self-walking and moving around without any issues. But later that afternoon, we noticed something was off. He became unsteady on his feet and started arching his back. By the end of the day, his condition had worsened significantly. His back legs gave out, and he could no longer walk. We rushed him to the nearest emergency animal hospital, where we received the heartbreaking news. Vanilla had IVDD. We were devastated, not only by the pain he was in, but also by the cost of the surgery he urgently needs to recover. The procedure is estimated to cost between $10,000 and $12,000. Right now, Vanilla is on medication to manage his pain, but surgery is the only option for a full recovery and to give him a chance at walking again. We were initially seen at the closest hospital, but they referred us to a specialized facility where the surgery can be performed. While I don’t yet have the full medical bill from that facility, I do have documentation of Vanilla’s prescribed medication. (Some personal information is blocked for privacy.)
