Our beloved Heather Shute Hubanks passed away on September 21, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was a one-of-a-kind mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. Heather had a wonderful way of uplifting everyone, whether she knew you well or you had just met. She was cheerful, kind, funny, generous, loving, brave, strong and adventurous. She was our hero and we will all miss her so much.
Heather is survived by her husband John Hubanks, her sons Nathan (16) and Ryan (14), her sister Kitt Shute Rowlings and her parents Sharie and Clem Shute. Due to this devastating loss, the lives of Heather's sons will never be the same. She loved and lived for them - championing their achievements and helping them through their struggles. While she is still with them in her way, we know she would appreciate it if we could continue to support Nathan and Ryan in their development.
Heather valued education and knew what a difference it could make, attending the University of California at Santa Barbara for her undergraduate degree and American University for her graduate degree. It was one of her greatest hopes that her children would have the opportunities for education she had. It is for this reason we are raising funds with The Heather Shute Hubanks Memorial Fund. The goal is to raise funds for Nathan's and Ryan's college educations. Many of you have asked how you can help. This is how you can help. No amount is too small (or too big). We know this goal will take a village and we appreciate any and all forms of support. Thank you so much for loving Heather and being a part of her life!
