VanGundyStrong - Raising funds for The VanGundy's
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Shondra Mclaughlin and I am one of Kim VanGundy's closest and dearest friends. Kim and I have always referred to each other as Sister's by heart and in the last 66 days, my heart and the hearts of all that know the VanGundy's have hurt for this family. The live's of Kim, Brian and their beautiful daughter Alyvia were changed drastically back on Wednesday, September 22nd when Alyvia, who is strong and brave, yet just 14, drove her parents and herself to the hospital due to Covid like symptoms as Kim and Brian were too ill to drive. Kim was admitted on Wednesday, September, 22nd and Brian was admitted on Friday, September 24th. Both parents were diagnosed with Covid Pneumonia and were fighting their own individual fights to get better and get back home to their precious daughter and dog Max. Kim was released on October 1st and went back to doing what she loves and desperately longed for while in the hospital, being a mother and a wife, taking care of her family, while still trying to recover from this debilitating virus on her own. Kim's daily routine since October 4th has been dropping Alyvia off at school and spending every day/all day with Brian in the CCU, putting her family first and daily tasks such as currently working, house cleaning, and laundry on hold. This is day 66 and Brian is still fighting his fight. The last 66 days have been a roller coaster. On October 6th, after fighting so hard on his own to breath and his body just not allowing him to get better, Brian was put on a ventilator and still remains on a ventilator. Brian has had good days and some not so good days, making great progress only for something to happen that takes him 3 steps back. However, Brian is a VanGundy, a Marine - therefore a fighter and we have faith that he will beat this. The hospital has thrown Hospital protocol out the window and have allowed Alyvia to see her dad which has been great for all of them. Brian can't speak right now but he has been able to give a little smile to both Kim and Alyvia. When words fail, actions speak and these small actions are huge and mean so much to both of them. In the many talks that Kim and I have had she often says " I just miss him" , " I just want him to come home". She just wants her family back home together again and those of you that know Brian personally, knows how much he loves his family and wants that too.
Many have asked what they can do to help this family. With Brian being self employed, medical bills coming in and the holidays around the corner, I am asking for your support. Once Brian gets out of the hospital which at this time is uncertain, he will have a long road ahead of him. Kim and Brian are not one to ask for help so as one of Kim's closest friends, I am asking for your help and support on behalf of this family. This fund is being set up in hopes to ease the pain of medical expenses and whatever is necessary to take care of this family. No donation is too big or too small and if you feel compelled to make a donation, it will be deeply appreciated. This fund is being set up with Kim being the one to manage the funds.
On behalf of Kim, Brian and Alyvia I would like to say thank you for all of your prayers, love and support during this time. Please continue to keep this family in your daily thoughts and prayers. VanGundyStrong❤
