UPDATE: At this time, we will be closing this fundraiser. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for walking with us through this journey. Ua tsaug ntau ntau rau nej txhua tus.
Our family has been sharing our father’s journey over the past month. Today, we want to provide an update.
Earlier this year, our father fulfilled his last wish: to fly overseas and visit his birth country, Laos. This trip meant everything to him. He traveled alone, excited to reconnect with the place he had carried in his heart for decades.
During his return flight, he suddenly became severely ill and struggled to breathe. Once the plane landed in South Korea, the flight crew provided emergency care, and he was rushed to Inha University Hospital in Incheon. He was admitted to the ICU on Feb 26, 2026, with a 20% chance of survival due to acute respiratory failure, ARDS, pneumonia, and sepsis that progressed into septic shock.
Because he was traveling alone, our family immediately flew our sister to South Korea to be with him and serve as our legal family representative, helping navigate communication, medical updates, and decisions on behalf of our family.
After 37 days of waiting, hoping, and doing everything we could to support him, on April 3, 2026, at 3:28 PM, our father passed away.
This has been the most difficult experience our family has ever faced. We are heartbroken, but we are also grateful that he is no longer in pain.
At this time, we are working to bring our father home to the United States so he can be laid to rest surrounded by his children and loved ones.
There are many unexpected expenses related to this situation, including travel, coordination, and arrangements to return him home. We are continuing to navigate this process while working with the appropriate support and guidance here in South Korea.
If you feel called to support our family during this time, whether through a donation or by sharing this, we are deeply grateful.
Thank you for standing with our family, for your prayers, and for your kindness throughout this journey.
