Hi!
Our lifelong friend Vanessa (Boy) Pellegrini was diagnosed several years ago with Hairy Cell Leukemia, a rare form of Leukemia that has no cure. This rare disease, however, is treatable, with ongoing maintenance, and treatment every five years or so. HCL affects her blood and bone marrow so that there is much less room for her healthy white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets.
Vanessa’s battle back then (2017) included multiple bone marrow biopsies, a weakened immune system, infections, isolation, an aggressive course of chemotherapy via pic line, and different infusions all while being a loving wife to her husband Stephen and a devoted mom to their son Ryker.
Here we are now, 2024, and Vanessa is headed off to battle, again. She will need multiple aggressive chemotherapy’s, daily commutes from her home in New Hampshire to Dana Farber in Boston, and isolation rebooting her immune system avoiding infections and people for months. Stephen will need to take a lot of time off from his job to help with her treatments and care. She will be facing hundreds of miles, lots of tolls for her ride and she will undoubtedly have medical bills to fund, reduction in wages and a growing boy to support.
Vanessa is a true example of strength, and resilience. She demonstrates grace and love through her unwavering faith, compassion and devotion to all who cross her path.
Any support provided will help Vanessa, Steve and Ryker to cover their lost wages, and to ease the burden of travel and everyday expenses to continue providing a stable, healing environment for their family.
Vanessa is always the first to lend a hand to anyone in need. Let’s rally around her to help during this difficult time.
