On December 14th 2017, my sister was driving to work on rt 33 in Millstoe, NJ when a deer hopped over a lane of traffic and crashed through her windshield.  It was unavoidable and left her with no time to react.  She suffered severe head trauma and was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune City, NJ.  The physicians stabilized and admitted her into the ICU with a diagnosis of diffuse axonal injury (severe brain trauma).  She remained in ICU for 9 days under an induced coma. 

Through the amazing hospital care, her fighting spirit and the faithful support of her family and friends she has been able to start her recovery.  Currently, she is receiving inpatient care at NYU Rusk rehabilitation center and has a long way to heal. 

Vanessa is a strong, caring, energetic and amazingly loving woman. We remain positive that she will make a full recovery in due time.  Thank you for all your prayers and support.
