Vanessa Guerra-Lazaga Medical Fund

On October 20, 2015, Vanessa Guerra-Lazaga, a very special mother, daughter, wife, sister, and friend, had to have an emergency liver transplant due to unforeseen liver failure. 

Vanessa went into liver failure very quickly after an unexpected reaction from a muscle relaxant she had been taking for 6 weeks for a lower back injury.   In the days and nights leading up to the transplant, Vanessa almost lost her precious life multiple times.  We are so blessed that Vanessa was able to receive a liver for transplant so quickly, as she was declining so quickly.  So many friend and family members stood by her side praying for her as she was prepared for her transplant. 

Vanessa received tremendous care at the Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital in San Antonio.  She ended up staying 6 weeks in the ICU and then an additional 2 weeks in the hospital.  During that time she was ventilated, had a tracheostomy, received almost constant dialysis due to failed kidneys, and even went into cardiac arrest. 

Since her initial hospitalization, Vanessa had to return to the hospital for gastrointestinal concerns, which can affect the rejection of her transplant.   Vanessa has a very strict regimen to follow at home so that her new liver is not rejected.  On top of numerous medications, Vanessa cannot be exposed to large groups of people, has lab work done twice a week and sees her Physician weekly.  Vanessa is still struggling with gastrointestinal concerns, and her kidney function has not returned to normal either. 

Vanessa is a Family Specialist working for Pre-K 4 SA (West Center).   Her family and friends have stood by her side to support her family through this tremendous ordeal and now we are looking to do a little bit more for her family.  Vanessa will not be able to work for numerous months and her medical expenses exceed $20,000.  We are looking to raise $10,000 to $15,000 to help the Lazaga family with her medical expenses.

If you know Vanessa and her family,  you know that they would do anything for anyone, and are such a loving family.  They are a special family that bring so much joy to everyone around them.  Their precious children, Cassie and Christian are such a blessing.  They are truly gifted children and a blessing to everyone.  Vanessa's husband, Rommel,  is a strong Christian family man.  Rommel has supported the family through this life changing event and has been a source of tremendous strength.  Rommel is currently providing full time care to Vanessa.

Vanessa is continuing to heal daily and is growing stronger every day.   We know that Jesus heals the sick and continues to fulfill prophecy that "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases"  (Matthew 8:16-17).    We know that the Lord has been with Vanessa and her family.  The Lord rescues and saves, performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth (Daniel 6:27).   

Vanessa is  now spending time at home recovering with her family and dog, Daisy.  Please join us in supporting Vanessa and her family through this life-changing event.  Again, we are hoping to raise $10,000 to $15,000 to help the Lazaga family with Vanessa's medical expenses.  Any amount is appreciated and valued.  Thank you for being apart of Vanessa's road to recovery!
