Her Dream Wedding

It all started back in 2006 with a quick drive-thru visit to In-n-Out after a Political Science class at Moorpark College. Unlike many other couples, we didn’t look at each other and say “I am going to marry this person”. Instead, years of friendship went by, and it was not until six years after we met, a few more In-n-Out visits, and endless cheering at hockey games that we realized there was “something” there.

Our “what’s up” texts turned into witty addicting conversations, and our beach walks turned into magical dates; and just like that, laughing, sharing, going through life, we fell in love, we became teammates, partners, and two inseparable souls.

Together, we’ve discovered the true meaning of unconditional partnership and love, the beauty of compromise, the fun in loving each other’s imperfections, and laughing off the small things when life sneaks up on us.

I’ve become a world traveler, in fact, now I even love exploring new places and pretending I can talk to people in languages I don’t understand. Vanessa has learned how to cook without having to go to the “pre-made or frozen” aisle at Trader Joes… You could say this is what we call compromise at its best, and well, the truth is, this journey we embarked on has made us grow, bring the best out of us, and nurture us as individuals, and as a couple.

Our marriage and the new phase of our lives we are about to start is what propels this ship we are on, and while our marriage is not and will never be about our wedding day, I want to give Vanessa her dream wedding. She doesn’t want a castle full of people, nor a 6ft. long dress (thank God!), just like me, she wants a small beautiful day to celebrate the beginning of this new chapter.

We have decided to get married in Costa Rica, the first country we traveled to and explored together, and a beautiful place right in between Los Angeles, where we live, and Lima, Peru, where so many of her loved ones are from.

I want to give her every flower she wants, and make sure she has beautiful butterflies flying around the altar after we exchange our vows (this has been her dream ever since she was a little girl). That’s why I’m reaching out to you. To invite you to celebrate this new beginning, be part of it, and add to the beauty of our special day. No contribution is small, quite the opposite. I thank you in advance for sharing our moment, praying for us and our relationship, and making this the happiest day as we become husband and wife.
