Vanessa McGibbon Car Accident Rehab Fundraiser

As many of you may know, Vanessa was in a serious car accident on February 5th, 2020. Vanessa is a physiotherapy intern who works in Jasper, AB and Valemount, BC. She devotes her time to helping others regain their mobility and function after injuries.
She was driving the 120km home to Jasper from work in Valemount when she hit black ice and her car was hit by a semi-truck. She is now dealing with her own significant rehabilitation process. She has a concussion, broken teeth, a bruised pelvis, a fractured arm, ruptured tendons in her forearm, and required surgery on both arms. As a result, she is unable to use her hands and will be staying in the hospital for likely the next two weeks. Once at home, it will take several months of rest and rehabilitation before she is able to return to work as a physiotherapist.
Vanessa works as a contractor and therefore will have no financial support during the recovery process. Funds raised in this campaign will help reduce financial stress as she takes the needed time to heal. In addition, funds will allow her partner to take time off work to support Vanessa at home. Having her partner’s support will mean an earlier discharge from the hospital.
It goes without saying that Vanessa is an incredibly thoughtful, generous, and fun-loving individual. If any of her friends were in an accident, Vanessa would be the first person on their doorstep with homemade bread, moral support, and some good laughs. Vanessa is also a wonderful physiotherapist who spends her time helping others get back to doing what they love.
