We would love to invite you to contribute to a memorial in honor of the beautiful daughter of Jackie and Ken Constable, Vanessa Constable. The Yampa River Botanic Gardens allows sponsorships of different areas at the gardens. We found a beautiful and serene spot today, sitting up on a hill, a few aspen trees and a flowering bush with some flowers around them, on a private little path, looking over one of the sculptures and the pond at the gardens. It is very peaceful, and has a bench off to the side of it, and a small grassy area in front of it. We are chatting with the Botanic Gardens to see if we can sponsor that area in Vanessa's name, and we are also exploring the idea of a bench in Vanessa's name on the Core Trail. We all know the Constables have a special place in their hearts for Steamboat, and hopefully this memorial will be a source of peace and remembrance for them in the town that they love.
We are raising money from our neighborhood. Our plan is that the names of the donors would be shared with Jackie and Ken, while the amount of each donation would not be disclosed. This way, everyone can make a gift that they feel is appropriate for their support of the memorial. Gifts of any amount are welcome.
The funds raised will sponsor that chosen section of the gardens for 10 years, or a bench on the Core Trail. We would love to be able to have the money for the memorial within 2 weeks, so that we can get the notification to the Constable Family within the month.
Update: The bench has been installed on the Yampa Valley Core Trail, where you can see Steamboat’s ski jumps, but not close enough to be distracting. It is looking at the beautiful Yampa River, and is peaceful, yet easy to get to. The bench turned out beautifully! Thank you all!
I am also working with the city of Steamboat Springs and the Arts Council to try to geta local artist to do a suicide awareness project in honor of Vanessa. It’s moving very slowly, but I hope it will pick up momentum, and we can get some beautiful art, to memorialize beautiful Vanessa, as public art in downtown Steamboat, and also as community awareness project. Thank you again for your generosity and kindness!
