On December 1st, Vanessa (25) was involved in a tragic accident in Mexico. She fell from a 4-storey balcony, fracturing her spine and sternum, causing a collapsed lung and bleeding in her chest. She was brought to hospital and underwent emergency spinal stabilization surgery. She is intubated and was in the ICU of a private hospital. Due to lack of funds, however, they moved her without our consent and put her in a hospital that does not offer the care she needs. This is causing more trauma to her body. 

 

Vanessa has been unable to acquire assistance through insurance. Her medical bills have been substantial up to this point, and will continue to rise. In addition to the hospital bills, medical evacuation back to Canada costs ~$60,000 CAD.

Her family is in hopes of acquiring assistance in covering the cost of her existing medical bills and emergency medical travel back to Alberta as soon as possible where she can undergo the necessary additional surgeries and receive the appropriate care required.
