Van Eaton's home rebuild
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Krystan Thompson and the community of Windswept Estates and I are fundraising for Wesley, Jenny, and Cindy Van Eaton. This family lost their home due to a lightning strike/fire on March 23rd on 4am. It is a complete and total loss. The family is staying with me in my home in Windswept Estates and the community has been absolutely outstanding in assisting with any need at all, from food trains to toothpaste and toiletries and even clothes and a lot of monetary donations. At 4am on the 23rd the family was sleeping and their only extra bedroom got struck with lightning and killed their cat and dog immediately. Then they had 2 mins to get all of them out and the one dog who survived. The house was burned to the ground and a total loss, it only took 47 mins for it to be completely gone, due to the heat and intensity of the strike. The insurance company is only giving them a little amount to rebuild, they were very reluctant to ask for help until they got the insurance number and it was so low that it's impossible to rebuild. The past 2 years this family has been through the ringer from the Husband having a heart attack and hole in his heart to his wife fighting and beating breast cancer. Then their parents died and their 67 year old handicap sister Cindy who has cerebral palsy had to move in with them and be taken care of 24/7. Any donations help. We will be sharing the story on the news in the coming week. We thank everyone who has helped, stopped in and dropped stuff off without leaving their name and the people coming to just give hugs and prayers. Thank you all for reading. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me. Let's show this wonderful family how amazing the broader community of Freeport and all surrounding areas are just as we know them to be. God Bless y'all and once again thank you.
