Hello, everyone! My name is John Watson, and I am the department chair of Performing Arts at Zebulon B. Vance High School in Charlotte, NC.
I started working at Vance last year, and their once vibrant theater program had fallen apart. The student body lost motivation and the local community had given up on coming to see performances. I have been working very hard to rebuild the program over the past year and have succeeded in garnering significant interest in theater from the students, but we have no money. We need funding if we are going to perform shows, build sets, and find props and costumes. Our Fall show will be "The Piano Lesson" by August Wilson, and our Spring show will be the ever popular "Dreamgirls!"
These kids have a lot of talent and a passion for the Arts. They deserve to be part of a successful program, and I want them to feel proud of the shows they create for their families and community. Please help me reinvigorate this amazing department!
All donors will be greatly appreciated and mentioned in future programs.
