My name is Dan Moulton and this fundraiser is on behalf of my personal friends the Vance Family: Jacob, Leigh (Burns), and their two daughters (age 7 and 9) who suffered a house fire in South Huntsville on February 5, 2024. The fire started with an electrical malfunction at an outlet in the girl's room and was contained by the quick response of the Huntsville FD; All family members were able to make it out of the fire safely but there is extensive smoke and water damage throughout the house.
This fundraiser will assist the Vance/Burns family with the immediate costs associated with the replacement of basic necessities that were lost in the fire, items that will allow them to get back to normal quickly: new clothes and shoes, toiletries, elementary school-age children's items, toys, groceries, and other miscellaneous fire-related unplanned expenses. While the fire insurance claims for Grandmother Shirlene are underway with regards to the residence, the modest funds raised in this campaign will provide a needed boost to Jacob, Leigh, and their young family as they move forward past this challenge.
There are some positive developments, a list which will be added to in future updates:
- The house was insured and can be saved, that reclamation process is underway;
- The family is in the process of returning from a more distant hotel across town to a firmer housing situation in the South Huntsville area for the months ahead;
- The girls have started a new after school care program thanks to the generous support of the Southeast Family YMCA;
- Jacob and Leigh have been able to return to work: Jacob runs his own tree service, Leigh is a home health aide.
- Jacob is available for tree work, feel free to reach out to be put in touch. I have personally worked with him for 5 years- he does great work with no job too big or small for him to handle.
