I was recently diagnosed with Stage 1 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma a type of breast cancer on August 19th. I have gone through genetic testing and 47 other test that all resulted positively. On October 5th I had surgery to remove the tumor from my breast. The following week at my Post Op appointment my surgeon informed me that he didn’t clear all margins and there is possible a little more cancer in my breast. October 29th I had another procedure to remove remaining cancer cells out my breast. All margins were clear in this procedure. The tumor will require more pathology testing to determine if I will need chemotherapy or radiation or both. Now that the tumor has been sent off and evaluated they have confirmed chemotherapy is necessary then radiation afterwards. I have completed 4 out of the 4 rounds of chemotherapy praise God. I will now be starting physical therapy because my body is going through a phase called deconditioning. Because Cancer takes a toll on you mentally, physically, and emotionally and I’m tired! After Chemo i will get about a 3-4 week break before i start my 6 weeks of radiation Monday-Friday then lastly an Estrogen hormone blocker pill for the next 5 years. The road to recovery will take a few months. I’ve been out of work since 10.1.2021. This is a stressful journey…some days are good and others are challenging.
