My dad Van was severely burned while cleaning up some slash piles around the farm. He is currently in an ICU burn unit for at least a month and undergoing extensive grafting and repair surgeries.
He was flown to this facility 270 miles away where this hospital is prepared to deal with these sorts of emergencies. Our family is taking turns traveling to visit him and keep him company over the days of recovery ahead.
My parents are on Medicare which will only cover 80% of his medical bills. We were told that just a day in the ICU is $10,000. Plus with the fees associated with his travels over there as well as the extended length of time he will be in rehab, the thought of the bills is extremely overwhelming to us all.
