Hi friends and fam. We struggled to come to this decision, but we need financial help. On Tuesday, July 5th Val had an Ischemic stroke, a blockage in his brain (right corona radiate) while at work. Thankfully, he was able to get medical treatment extraordinarily fast! We are so blessed that the outcome was not as worse. Val does not look like a typical stroke survivor (paralysis, speech impairment); he does have deficits that need time to heal. As of now, his Dr is taking him off work for a month. Usually, we could financially struggle through this situation. Last fall in October, Val was hospitalized with covid pneumonia and missed a month of work. Unfortunately, Val's insurance has a very high out-of-pocket deductible ($7000), which we are scrapping by making payments). Immediately the next month, we were given notice that our house was being sold and we needed to make an offer or move. Somehow we made it but now face another large deductible ($7000)on top of a mortgage significantly higher than what we were paying before and another month of work missed. We are doing what we can to pull our resources, but many of you know getting assistance is slow money. Something our bills and mortgage will not wait for. I hate asking for charity, but we are swallowing our pride and asking for help. Anything helps. WE LOVE all the support and prayers we have received. Thank you again. - Much love, Val and Rachel
