Valrose's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hi all, I am creating this fundraising page on behalf of my late parents' wonderful and loving caregiver, Valrose Minott.
She has provided in-home elder care for the elder community for over a decade. This career is not just a job to her, it is a calling of her faith and heartfelt need to help others. So, it was a blessing when my family was lucky enough to get Valrose to help care for both of my parents, Pat and Andy Whyte, for more than two years. She began by aiding them in some activities of daily living and light meal prep, which quickly evolved into much more. As their physical abilities declined and dad’s dementia became more severe, it was she who calmly and lovingly stepped up, providing a level of care and comfort that went beyond her job. She became a family member.
When mom died last April, Valrose patiently guided and cared for dad, sometimes singing to him, right up to the day he passed away in December. There were many weeks that she volunteered to be at the house six days a week to help and keep things going. She did all this, while she and her husband have been raising a young family of three children, the youngest just five years old.
On January 22nd this year, our beloved Valrose, who only turned 48 a few days prior, suffered a near-fatal stroke and was rushed to the hospital to undergo emergency brain surgery to remove the embolism. She remains in the ICU fighting to recover but has suffered greatly. When I visited her a few days ago, she was barely able to speak, and her movements are limited. She has drains to alleviate the pressure on her brain and is constantly monitored. She will need every ounce of strength and faith that she has to fight for her own recovery.
Valrose will require an extended hospital stay as well as intense physical therapies in a rehabilitation facility for a lengthy duration of time. It is unlikely that she will be able to return to the career of caregiving that she loves any time soon, if ever. Needless to say, the financial burden of associated medical bills will be immense on her young family, in addition to a lack of income from her own job.
If you are able, please consider donating to Valrose’s Recovery Fund. No donation is too small to matter. I have set it up so that all monies from this page go directly into her bank account to help cover medical costs and basic family needs. I also ask that you send prayers of healing for her, and prayers of strength for her loving family.
Please share this page with anyone you know who might be able to help.
Bless each and every one of you for any prayer and/or donation you can share!
