Our beautiful, fun loving, friend and family member, Valorie, is fighting cancer again. Our goal is to help remove some of the stress by supporting her medical costs.
Those of you who know Val would describe her as fun, vivacious, outgoing, always has a smile and a laugh for you, loyal, loving, hardworking, independent and so on and so on…unfortunately, she’s being knocked back again in the dreadful fight against cancer.
Three years ago she fought and WON her battle against cancer, however, some of the cells probably got loose and spread to her lymph nodes. Five weeks ago, she underwent surgery to have the affected nodes removed along with some of the surrounding tissue and has finally been cleared to start an aggressive chemo and radiation treatment. Her doctors at UC Davis feel very confident the treatment will capture everything and give Val a long life to live. YEAH!
Val has always been a very strong, independent woman who does not ask for help. This time though, she’s agreed to let us lend a helping hand. She was just getting back on her feet from the exorbitant costs of her treatments three years ago, so does not have much of a savings left to tackle this one on her own. Her treatments will be at least twice daily between the chemo and radiation so she will need lodging in the Sacramento area. Infusion treatments will continue after her treatments at UC Davis for a year. She used to have a thriving travel business but Covid basically destroyed that, so then she started working at the Bucket of Blood in Virginia City. Unfortunately, she will not be able to be on her feet much once treatments start and for many months after. Needless to say, she’ll be out of work for many months after by the time she is healed.
She is such an amazing person with incredible family and friends that will rally around her. Let’s get this fund raiser going, get our girl through these tough times so that once the treatments are complete she can relax during her recovery time and get back to being the fun, life loving person she’s always been without the overwhelming stress of medical debt.
