vallory's fight against cancer
My name is ginger smith. I'm the oldest child of jerry and vallory safreed. Along with my sisters jeannie, billie and my brother jerry. I have been trying to think of the "best" way to say what i want to say. I've been trying to think of the "right" way to ask people for donations. The thing is, theres no right or wrong way. Theres not a best way to even wright a stroy. So here it goes from my heart. My momma is one of the strongest people i know. Being the soul provider for our family beings my dad was hurt in an oil field injury in the 70's. which left him with open ulcers on his legs that prevent him from being on his feet for long periods of time due to risk of losing his legs. My mom and dad have always given to others not ever expecting anything in return. Anyone that knows them, know the love they have for one another, their kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. My mom got sick this past july. When i say sick. She was in excursating pain for almost a month before even telling anyone. Due to the fact that she never wants anyone to worry about her. Especially my dad. In august the pain became so bearable she went to the er just to be sent home. They said it was nothing, to follow up with her dr. A couple of days later the pain was so severe she couldnt sleep, she couldnt eat. She couldn't do anything so she went back to er. She was admitted for a week. Them vowing to find out what was wrong. They gave her a weeks worth of anitibiotics, a weeks worth of the "wrong" medicine time and time again. Ran test after test. My mom was bruised from shoulder to hand on both arms from trying to get an iv , then trying to find a vein that didn't blow. Finally after getting released from the hospital with what they "thought" was wrong with her. She went home and has suffered the last month in such severe pain, she was beginning to wonder if it was all in her head. By the grace of God a personal friend of my sister's was able to pull some strings for my mom and get her a 2nd opinion ASAP! We got the news on friday that my mom has deudonem (small intestine) cancer. Something that is so rare that it's often not found. We don't know yet what stage, or if it has spread anywhere. What we do know is that its cancer and she has to go to the Cleveland Clinic for major exstensive surgery. Surgery thats going to put my mom out of work for months. She told me her main concern was how was she going to pay her bills? Here she is about to fight for her life and shes worried not about her, but her bills. I am asking from the bottom of my heart for donations for my mom and dad. To help pay for medical expenses, living expenses, travel expenses. Most of all, I'm asking for prayers. I'm hoping to raise the money by november 1st. My mom and dad has helped us kids out throughout our adult lives, never asking for anything in return. They have fought for us, cried with us, loved us unconditionally, got up through the night for us, always had the door open to us. And when i say US. I also mean my kids. Our family would be forever gratefull to any and all help! I will keep you updated as we're updated!
God bless and thank you all
