Valkyrie Veterinary Care

Hi, Im Khris.  I'm raising money for our kitten Valkyrie. She was given to us on July 25. At first glance, Valkyrie  is a happy healthy kitten but unfortunately  she has some underlying health issues.

The first day we had her I noticed that her tail didn't work at all. It laid limp despite her playful curious demeanor. She also had trouble using the litter box. She would strain to pee only to have drips come out instead of a steady stream. Worried about what I was seeing, I called a 24 hr Emergency vet and they said it was important we came in soon. She could be in alot of pain or die soon from not being able to release her bladder.

We went in as soon as we could and had her assessed. The vets expressed her bladder then examined her. They weren't sure what was wrong with her exactly but they suspected she experienced some sort of trauma that caused spine or nerve damage. She was prescribed an anti-inflammatory and we were recommended she see a neurologist and have an MRI or CT scan. The cost to do so was $4500. Since they were unsure of the problem they were unsure to as if she'd regain the ability to use her tail or pee on her own.We didn't have the money to get the tests so, putting the cat first, I asked if we gave her up to a shelter, would they get those things done for her. The vet said they most likely would euthanize her depending on the shelter and that we would be better off finding a rescue to keep her if we didn't. I asked if she would have any results with the medication prescribed and they weren't sure but said it was a possibility. We decided to keep her for the week to see if anything would change and make a decision from there. They told us the procedure on how to express her bladder, we paid for the emergency visit and medicine then took Valkyrie home.

That same day, July 26, A video of us even went viral on TikTok .

With the shock of never expecting that, I wondered if we could use the fame to raise the money needed for her vet bills. I wasn't sure and wanted to see first if the medicine would work

Valkyrie is now on her 5th day of medicine. She was doing well but haven't shown much improvement as far as tail use or peeing on her own.

Today, July 30th, we are now back at the vet because she has some breathing problems. She squeezed under a dresser in my room, we were able to get her out and she didn't seem to be in any pain but we noticed she was wheezing. After her wheezing didn't stop after drinking water, using the bathroom or eating , we decided it would be good to bring her in to emergency.

They examined her and said it could be congestion or a upper respiratory problem which is common in kittens but wanted to be sure with an x-ray. We decided to get it. Still waiting on the results.

With this happening, and her not showing much improvement on her previous issues, I decided now might be a good time to ask for help. I know she's just a kitten and we haven't even had her for a week yet, but we are really attached to her. Last month in June 22nd our black cat Doom died. He was only 4 years old. His death hit us hard and we felt it was our fault he died so young. He was our first cat. I have anxiety and he was a support system for me. His death also affected our cat Luno whom he basically raised. They were very close. Luno was sad and lost weight. We just got Luno back to being happy. We received Valkyrie 3 days after the month anniversary of Doom's death. We didn't plan on getting another cat, at least not anytime soon, especially another black one. But something told us to take her in when we were asked. It must be fate or something. She truly has been a blessing and is so similar to Doom that we can't give up on her with out at least trying.

To conclude the money raised will go towards her getting the tests she needs and to puttowards what she may need once those are taken.

Sorry if this is alot to read, but if everyone donated even just a dollar, it would help tremendously.
